Atlanta is a secluded retreat near the Middle Fork of the Boise River. Established as a gold mining town in 1864, the population of Atlanta hovers around 40 people. The surrounding area is spectacular and well worth a visit. The area offers everything from modern amenities to ghost towns. Enjoy dramatic mountain scenery and rugged desert vistas. Atlanta is approximately 98 miles from Boise, most of which is on a gravel road. The area has several natural hot springs close to town and outstanding views of Greylock Mountain and the Middle Fork of the Boise River.

Each year in late August/early September, the town hosts "Atlanta Days" featuring live music, great food and even gold panning for the kids.
