Nestled at the base of White Bird Grade, White Bird Idaho offers historical western charm and a peaceful haven for those who are looking to get away from the hectic city life. It is not uncommon to see riders on horseback walking downtown. The area offers many outdoor adventures from whitewater rafting, jet boat tours, fishing, hunting, hiking and several other outdoor activities.
Since the city of White Bird sits very close to the Salmon River and near the Snake River via Pittsburg Landing, there are a multitude of river adventures to be had. The Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and millions of acres of National Forest land are only minutes away. The Gospel Hump, Selway-Bitterroot and Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Areas offer nearby primitive settings for fishing, hunting and hiking in true solitude.
The geology, geography, biology and history of the Idaho panhandle are fascinating. Check out White Bird Battlefield, Seven Devils, Gospel Hump, Pittsburg Landing, Joseph and Doumecq Plains, Florence and other gold towns, Red River Hot Springs, nearby rivers like the Snake, Clearwater, Selway and Lochsa.
