The famous "River of No Return" is your backdrop for relaxation and adventure as Destination Wilderness of Idaho and their well-seasoned guides take you into the remote and beautiful Salmon River canyons. Over 6,000 feet from the rim this river valley is deeper than the Grand Canyon!

Trips utilize many different types of whitewater river craft to row, paddle and drift down the river. Your choice of river chariots consist of oar-rigged rafts, paddle rafts, or inflatable whitewater kayaks. Depending on your level of adventure you may choose to paddle with a team, paddle solo in your own inflatable kayak or sit back and relax, letting your whitewater guide row you down the river in true vacation style.

Indulge in the finest river menu available. Breakfasts are multi-course presentations that fuel your system for a day of pleasure. Delicatessen style lunches are laid out before you on river's edge, replete with fresh meats, vegetables, fruits, and other snacks. Tasty happy-hour hors d'oeuvres and beverages are presented daily as a salute to a great day of whitewater rafting. And the dinners, aahh the dinners. Marinated and grilled steak, chicken, fish, shishkabobs. Delicious and wholesome pasta and potato side dishes. Fresh green salads. And warm Dutch oven cakes and other delicious pastries. The meals also include a variety of beverages, including aromatic cowboy coffee and espresso. In addition, any special dietary needs you have are gladly honored. Vegetarian meals are a pleasure for them to create.

*Please plan to arrive in Salmon the night before your trip and to depart from McCall the morning after your trip.* Itinerary: Camp Trips Once at Corn Creek, a beautiful launch area at the very end of the road, they will rig your personal bags on to the gear rafts, have a snack, participate in a thorough instructional and safety presentation, and head off down the Salmon river! On the river the first day you will encounter several exciting rapids, such as Killum and Gunbarrel. These rapids feature smaller roller coaster waves that are fun and help get everyone used to the rapids, and ready for more whitewater action. You will stop for lunch in the early afternoon, and reach camp late in the afternoon after more great rafting. This evening the tents and sleeping pads are distributed and the guides help you with the set up of your personal camping gear. They will also set up and explain the "bathroom" system. Happy hour snacks and beverages lead the way into a night of great food, camp fires, camaraderie, star watching, and more. Subsequent Days (The number of days varies according to your trip length): Each day on the Salmon river rafting trip follows a similar routine although no two days are alike. Breakfast, a multi-course affair with hot cowboy coffee, is served as the sun creeps into the canyon. After breaking camp and loading the rafts we run bigger and bigger rapids and float enchanting calms. Depending on the day we may visit Native American pictographs, sit in a natural hot springs pool, visit Buckskin Bill's compound, and run rapids such as Elkhorn, Bailey Falls, Chittam, Salmon Falls, and on and on. The Salmon River and canyon is blessed with myriad things for rafters to see and do, and you'll get to take in as much as humanly possible! Lunch is set up each early afternoon, designed to fuel your system in gourmet deli style. In the late afternoon we set up camp in a beautiful and secluded wild place, on either a spectacular white sand beach or a tranquil forest glade. The early evening hours provide time to fish, hike, read a book, enjoy happy hour snacks and beverages, or take a nap. Dinner, in all of its glory, is presented each evening with style and flair. You will eat to your stomach's content meals that have been labeled as the finest outdoor cuisine imaginable. Each night a campfire will warm your toes and the sound of the river will lull you to sleep. Final Day: After another tasty Salmon river breakfast you'll break camp, rig the rafts, and head through some more great rapids and inspiring calms. Lunch is served just a short distance above the take-out point. Our shuttle vehicle meets us at take-out in the early afternoon. Here, you'll say good-bye to the river and head to the town of McCall, Idaho, which is approximately 1.5 hours from take-out. Once in McCall, you are taken to your hotel or the airport, depending on your post-trip schedule. Those who stay the night in McCall often will gather with the guides at a local restaurant for a celebration dinner to salute a great river and an exceptional journey! Itinerary Lodge Trips: Would you like a truly unique wilderness adventure? Lodge Accommodation trips are the perfect combination of adventure and rustic comfort. Imagine spending your day crashing through whitewater and swimming in the sparkling water of the Salmon River, then enjoying an evening sitting in a rocking chair on the porch of a turn-of-the-century homestead, fishing or hunting lodge on the river's banks, and finally taking a hot shower before slipping between clean white sheets. Pioneers settled the banks of the Salmon River, building homesteads, fishing and hunting lodges from the materials they could acquire nearby. Fishing and hunting lodges also dotted the shores of the Salmon River. When the River of No Return Wilderness was established, these original homesteads, fishing and hunting lodges and their structures remained protected by Congress. Now, by booking a Lodge Accommodation trip, you can explore and enjoy these locations that are only accessible by river, horse, or in some cases airplane. Dorm-style accommodations are available as well as private rooms for couples. Each lodge is different, but most have flush toilets. Hot showers are available at most locations, and the hospitality is second to none. The following lodges are available for overnight stays on the trips. Your trip will probably not include all of the lodges. Lodge selection is based on group size, water levels, lodge availability, and trip length. Lodges: River of No Return Lodge, Arctic Creek Lodge, Whitewater Ranch, China Bar Lodge, Mackay Bar Lodge or Sheep Ranch.
