The ROOSEVELT, originally a school house, was built in 1905 and remodeled in 1994 into a bed and breakfast. This unique structure was named after the 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The beautiful red brick building with its steeple and shaded by maple trees offers traditional elegance with modern comforts and warm hospitality. Two antique furnished parlors and dining area featuring lovely leaded glass windows and a hand painted mural welcome you on the main floor. A winding rose mural runs up the wall along the original school staircase.
Each room is centrally climate controlled for your comfort. All rooms have queen-sized beds, private baths and/or showers, some rooms offer a view of the lake. All of the rooms are charmingly furnished with antiques. Each floor (there are 3) has an iron, ironing board and hairdryer available. There are also 2 rollaways available.
Outside each room is an old photograph and description of the teacher the room is named after so it's like a walking history lesson throughout the building. Long windows from floor to ceiling and old mirrors and the original chimney are all still present and add to the amazing ambiance of this place.
A full gourmet breakfast is served daily at 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30 and 10. Fresh coffee, tea, cider and cocoa along with biscotti and homemade chocolate chip cookies are available throughout the day. Your hosts, the Hough family also host a bi-weekly high tea on Wednesday and Saturday, serving tea and goodies.
Behind the building is a spa building with a 1000 gallon, 12 person hot tub with 49 jets, where you can soak in this large tub and gaze out the skylight. A charcoal BBQ and beautifully kept grounds are also present for your use.
