If the self-bailing paddle and rowing rafts aren't exciting enough to suit your thrill level, hop into an inflatable kayak. The "pool and drop" Salmon River offers calm pools between rapids; so even if you do tip, just keep your feet up and ride it out in your highly buoyant commercial whitewater life jacket.

The Mighty Main Salmon flows through the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area. This is one of the most outstanding river trips in the United States. The Main offers plenty of class II -IV rapids and some of Idaho's most interesting historical sites.

Early inhabitants of this canyon left pictographs that describe what primitive life was like along the Salmon. Later inhabitants including miners, homesteaders, and hermits have left a wealth of relics and history describing life in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries.

The Main is also a wonderful place to view wildlife in their natural habitat. Eagles, otters, bighorn sheep, and occasionally black bears can be seen on most trips.

After a fun-filled day on the river, relax in one of the many beautiful nearby towns: Riggins, Whitebird, New Meadows or McCall.
