 It was a bit of a slow start to our season here in Sun Valley, but now the snow is coming through in spades! I just wanted to let you know that we’ve received over 10 inches of new snow overnight and the snow is still falling! Baldy is enjoying fantastic conditions, and with the opening of Seattle Ridge today there will be even more terrain available to skiers and boarders.
Also, today marks the first day of winter operations at the *NEW* Sun Valley Nordic Center. We’ve gone from a 3,000 sq. ft. building to a 58,000 sq. ft. Nordic facility!

MORE TERRAIN TO OPEN ON BALDY & DOLLAR

Tomorrow, Thursday, December 18, four more lifts will open on Sun Valley’s Baldy and Dollar Mountains, followed by additional terrain on Friday and Saturday, December 19-20.
Lifts opening tomorrow on Baldy will be Exhibition #2, Sunnyside #6, and Greyhawk #7. Dollar will open Half Dollar.
On Friday, Lower College run will open on Baldy and Dollar Face and New Bowl will open on Dollar. Saturday, Lower River Run’s kinderspielplatz carpet will open for children.
Additional storms are forecast for tomorrow afternoon and Friday.

We’re gearing up for opening day on Thanksgiving, November 27, and the white stuff has indeed been falling! We’ve received 11 inches on Baldy since November 4th.
We also have a new run opening on Baldy, Sleeping Bear, which will be anything BUT drowsy! It will be a steep black diamond bump run down the River Run side, with plenty of tree and cliff access for the adventurous types.

| Sun Valley to Extend Ski Season on Baldy |

SUN VALLEY, ID . Thanks to a bountiful winter and excellent ski conditions, Sun Valley Resort will extend its ski season through Sunday, April 20.
Seattle Ridge and the Bowls on Baldy and all of Dollar Mountain will remain open through Sunday, April 13 only.
Lifts on Baldy remaining in operation from April 13 through the end of the season will be River Run #1, Lookout Express #5, Christmas #3, and Challenger #10 keeping the River Run and Warm Springs terrain accessible through April 20.

Sun Valley, ID (Aug. 9, 2006) - One hundred of the finest paragliding pilots in the country will meet in Sun Valley, Idaho, August 27 - September 2 to fly the skies high over the Sawtooth Mountains and compete for the title of US National Champion.

This competition is officially sanctioned by the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. The basic format is to complete a cross country course flying as quickly as possible to a finish line. These courses vary in length and design due to variable weather conditions each day. Pilots will utilize altimeters, variometers and GPS systems to help them navigate across the beautiful mountainous terrain of central Idaho. Courses of 10-100 miles are expected as participants reach heights up to 18,000 feet. All flights will originate from the summit of Bald Mountain, the top of
the famous Sun Valley Resort.
The local paragliding business, Fly Sun Valley, is the official host of the
event. Chuck Smith, owner/operator of Fly Sun Valley, is excited about the upcoming competition. "We are looking forward to hosting a very successful event. The latter part of August has proven to be a highly consistent window, offering great weather, excellent lapse rates, wonderful thermals and one of the finest times of the year for distance flying."
