Museum of Mining and Geology Description:
 Learn about Idaho's colorful history of mining and geology by viewing historical photographs and artifacts from early Idaho mining days as well as exhibits depicting the state's varied and spectacular geologic features. Check with the museum staff about lecture series, field trips and other educational programs which are regularly offered.
Hours: Wednesday-Friday 12pm-5pm Saturday & Sunday 1pm-4pm
Admission: FREE ADMISSION (donations appreciated)

From downtown Boise, head East on Warm Springs Avenue. Turn left on Old Penitentiary Road (the same road that leads to the Botanical Gardens). Watch for a brown sign in the center median that reads “Parking” with a left-pointing arrow. Turn left at this sign. Follow the road around to the main parking lot in back of the houses & buildings. Park and walk to the far end of the parking lot and up the dirt road into the main area. You will see the entrance to the Old Penitentiary in front of you.
