I raced at the USCSA 2005 Nationals and though it was a bad snow year with constant sun making conditions even worse the staff/volunteers worked incredibly hard to make it as good as possible.

We enjoyed 2 days of x-country skiing on the trails here. They were well-groomed and the views were great of the lake! One day we saw moose AND cougar tracks... very cool. The park ranger didn't seem too preoccupied for people's safety, which was actually a good thing because then I was able to relax about that, too. The prices there are REALLY GOOD compared to skiing anywhere in California, I can see that being a great place to go even in the summer, although in the winter there are very few people, which is nice...

We really enjoyed hiking in Ponderosa State Park. Great day hikes and the drive was easy with the destinations being fairly close. This made it easier for the kids in the car!

Unlike other state parks, even when it is completely full you have tons of space & feel alone in nature. Beautiful views of the lakes & mountains & good bike trails.
