The last few days of rain have done wonders for the McCall area. The smoke has been blown out and the blue skies are back! That is not to say that the fires are out completely but it sure has helped. The McCall area has not been in any danger of any sorts of evacuations, and hopefully the smoke from the back country fires will subside. Unfortunately the same can not be said for Warm Springs, near Ketchum/Sun Valley area. There have been voluntary and mandatory evacuations in the area. From our sources, it is very smokey in the entire area. At this time Ketchum/Sun Valley area is not in danger of evacuations however we are being warned that the smoke is bad and that any reservations for the Warm Springs area over Labor Day weekend will get an update on Sunday or Monday. We will contact our guests who fall into that category. The lightning that caused the Castle Rock Fire (Warm Springs area), which is now estimated at 3,200 acres, is burning actively in the Warm Springs Creek drainage, approximately 11.5 miles west of Ketchum on the Sawtooth National Forest. For public safety and to aid fire suppression efforts, an area closure is in effect for a large area west of Ketchum.
